First snow of the year

The first snow of the year covered the garden with a thin layer of white, fluffy powder, just enough to coat the grass and give the evergreens a look of Christmas, which with only 24 days to go, is approaching with a shocking speed. No Christmas shopping done yet and the malls are filled to the brim with people who all wants to “beat the crowd”, but alas, it has already arrived. It will get worse yet, so perhaps it’s time to shop around for “that special present” for that “special someone”.

Then there are all the Christmas cards that yet has to be written and mailed. The last minute one’s always with the proverbial excuse: “Sorry for the tardy arrival of this-but we didn’t forget you”, which in fact isn’t quite true, for each year there always seem to be someone that “wasn’t on the list”.

Preparations for Christmas began with baking cookies. A half dozen varieties amounting to a total of a couple of hundred cookies. The spare tire is expected inflate a bit more during the season, but firm New Year’s resolutions and the basement exercise machines should bring it back to normal again. Why do we love food so much?
